BAGUIO CITY – Baguio Country Club (BCC) and Square & Compass Golf of Nueva Ecija took the spotlight Sunday, grabbing the early lead in Flight B of the seniors’ action in the 60th Fil- Am Golf Invitational Tournament.

Bannered by the 27 points of Bill Lawrence, BCC fired a team total of 86 points to jumpstart its campaign in the Fil-Division played at the BCC’s par 61 course.

Backstopping Lawrence for BCC were Cesar Lanuza, who logged 22 points, Herr Bautista who tallied 19 and Benito Ang who posted in 18 points in the five-to-play, four-to-count format tournament.

Capitol Hills Golf and Country Club stood within reach at second with 81 points, led by Ding Roman’s 23 points. Bert Roman, Manny Madayag, and Pablo Roman Jr. also helped the team’s cause, scoring 21, 19 and 18 points, respectively.

At far third was the Fil-Hawaiian Golf Club with 70 points, courtesy of Rick Santos (25), Flor Fajilan (20), Deo Halog (13) and Buddy Malabute (12), followed by Villa Cacho with 67 points and Club Intramuros with 66.

In the Am division over at Camp John Hay, Square & Compass Golf fired 76 points to lead the field with Oligario Dela Cruz firing a team’s best of 22 point. Rafael Otic, Fred Santos, and Leonard Ting added 21, 19, and 14 points, respectively.

Travelers Golf Club was at second with 72 points paced by Frank Ibos’ 22, Totie Manalo and Rudy Mateo’s identical 18 points and Jun Caba’s 14.

East Loch Club occupied third with 70 points behind Danny Caguiat’s 21 points, Frank Arevalo’s 20, Carl Pagtakhan’s 15 and Jules Melgar’s 14.
